Today, for school we visited Escuela Militar de Chorrillos on the coast of Lima. We visited the part of the school that trains air jumpers that complete parachuting operations. We were treated like trainees and had to run to each destination in formation and learn some of the chants. We watched a video of the troops actually jumping out of planes then we visited the on campus museum. After that we were educated on the gear that the solders wear and saw how the solders are trained. Then we got to experience what it is like when you open your parachute. It was a fun day!
Opening the Parachute
Here they open the parachute for us. It was so big!
A Push of Faith
Talk about a leap of faith! Actually it was more like a push. I hesitated, to remember how to breath, at the edge and the military man helping pushed me towards my fate! Notice how I slam into the ground ever so gracefully at the end. When I went a second time I couldn't even touch the ground and the guy there to help us get out of the gear had to grab me. I don't have a video of the second jump but the first jump is more entertaining to watch anyway!
