Carmen's footprints
Not always have I walked with The Lord hand in hand as I do now. There was a time when hurricanes beat the shores of my life sending me into a whirrlwhind of anger, hate, and darkness.
When this storm passed and I only saw one set of foot prints I knew The Lord had carried me through the storm when I thought I was alone.
Now we walk hand in hand. I rest my head on his strong arms and look out into the turbulent sea just to remind myself how nice it is to walk with him beside me. Sometimes I let go of his hand in defiance only to need his embrace a moment latter.
One day The Lord spoke to me. "Carmen." He said in his beautiful, strong voice, "I want us to move to a different beach." I looked up at him my eyes filling with tears
"But this is the beach that I know. I have family here that I can't leave. friends that need me. horses that depend on me. Shurly lord you are mastaken."
He shook his head.
"But why!" I cried, tears slipping down my cheeks.
His eyes became sad and he said a little softer,
"Sometimes, dear one, you must do things that I tell you to do even if you don't understand why." He brushed a tear from my cheek and kissed me softly on the head.
"Come and follow me." He whispered into my hair and offered me his hand.
I took a deep breath and looked behind at my footprints. They told the tale of my perfect family, my lovely horse, my true hearted friends and I would be leaving them all. I shed one more tear, for everything I would be missing, and with a whole heart took The Lord's hand.
My time away is beginning and although I may not understand it I know that God has a plan for me.
My footprints will soon wash away on the beaches of home but know, in your heart, that soon I will return. And when I come home i will have new stories to tell of a different beach with my footprints in their sand
